Who is ICC?
ICC is a locally based Christian development organisation committed to serving the least-served across the Kingdom of Cambodia.

In a country where the needs of the population and the responses to those needs are often numerous, ICC models a unique approach to development, combining the experiences and resources of six different international agencies to create one locally-based organisation.

These five agencies are:

  • Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM) Finland
  • InterAct Sweden
  • Normisjon Norway
  • SIL International
  • Cambodia Action (formerly SAO) UK

With over 180 staff and volunteers, drawn from different countries around the world and from different ethnic groups across Cambodia, ICC is itself a reflection of the diverse nature of both the people whom we serve and the ways in which we serve them.

What work is ICC involved in?
Since 1991, the partner agencies of ICC have been involved in relief and development work amongst the Cambodian people. This multi-faceted work now continues under the name of ICC in the areas of language development, education, healthcare, food security, agriculture, income generation, leadership development and other activities that improve the well-being of people and communities around Cambodia.

Whether we are supporting disadvantaged children from the slums of Phnom Penh to attend school, or helping farmers in the remote province of Mondulkiri find better ways of managing their crops, we are committed to seeing the people of Cambodia secure their own future.

Whether we are assisting remote tribes in Ratanakiri to develop their own written language, or training villagers from displaced communities in Phnom Penh to set up their own micro-enterprises, we are committed to seeing the people of Cambodia move towards 'wholeness' in their lives.

Whether we are getting our hands dirty with local villagers in far-off provinces, or sitting down to lobby and advocate senior Government officials in urban centres, we are committed to seeing lasting change in Cambodia.

The work of ICC covers a broad cross-section of the population – male and female, young and old, rural and urban – impacting the lives of people and communities from 8 different ethnic groups in 12 different provinces and cities across Cambodia.

In what ways does ICC work?
At the heart of ICC are three foundational 'building blocks', crucial to both our identity as an organisation and the way in which we work:

Partnership - As a partnership agency itself, ICC is always looking to partner with other agencies in Cambodia, including Government, churches and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs), in the belief that Cambodia's future is best served through unity, cooperation and the sharing of resources and ideas.

We also encourage local people to work together to find the solutions to their problems while looking to build up local leaders who can take charge of this process. Our long-term vision is to see local people taking responsibility for their own development and no longer requiring the support of ICC.

Service - ICC is committed to serving the people of Cambodia, regardless of their gender, age, ethnic background, political affiliation or religious beliefs. We do this because - not in spite of - our Christian faith, which guides the way in which we approach our development work.

This service of others is motivated by the personal relationship our staff and volunteers have with Jesus Christ. We hope that through both our words and actions, the people whom we serve will be able to experience God’s love in their own lives.

Wholeness - Through all our development work, our ultimate goal is to move those whom we work with towards 'wholeness' in their lives - the place where both their physical and spiritual needs are being met. This focus on 'wholeness' also means ensuring that individuals are not isolated but instead connected into their families and the wider community.

As part of our commitment to working in a 'wholistic' way, we strive to combine the highest standards of professionalism and excellence with a caring and loving attitude, always keeping in mind that the people whom we work with are not development projects, but unique individuals.

Although ICC is an international organisation, we work exclusively in Cambodia and our focus is therefore 100% on Cambodia
