What need is ICC - PARCE Pilot Project meeting?
ICC - PARCE Pilot Project, which will run until the end of June 2008 prior to the implementation of the full project, works in four villages in Preah Sdach District, Prey Veng Province in the southeast of Cambodia.

The people in these villages face many challenges for sustaining their livelihood, including limited local infrastructure, poor sanitation, food shortages for part of the year, some unhelpful farming practices and a lack of overall cooperation and trust amongst villagers that should be working together.

In what ways does ICC - PARCE Pilot Project work?
ICC - PARCE Pilot aims to be part of a process of building trust amongst these communities, building their capacity to analyze and solve problems together and, in this way, prepare them for the activities of the upcoming full ICC – PARCE Project.

Villagers are invited to join participatory learning activities that build their confidence, trust and analytical skills. The lessons they learn during these sessions will then be applied and built upon in the upcoming ICC – PARCE Project and also within the official village development planning process.

In addition, ICC – PARCE Pilot Project also works with local church groups who need to be mobilised to put their faith into action. Our activities include weekly Bible studies and opportunities for churches to work together to meet practical needs within their communities, with some of the funding for this coming from the project.

The ICC – PARCE Pilot Project team consists of staff with experience in a variety of different fields, including agriculture, community development, health, and holistic ministry.

What are the hopes of ICC - PARCE Pilot Project?
Through our participatory learning exercises, we hope that these villagers will understand about their strength and weaknesses as well as the opportunities and potential threats that lie before them and their community.

Our long term vision is for these people to be empowered to plan for their own future and secure their holistic needs for the future.
